PTFE is one class of plastics known as fluoropolymers. A polymer is a compound formed by chemical reactions that combine particles / molecules into groups.

Teflon has a very high melting point, and is also stable at very low temperatures. Teflon is highly heat resistant and corrosion resistant. PTFE is used to provide protection against fabrics, rugs, and wall coverings, and weatherproof outdoors. PTIZE has a low electrical conductivity, thus making a good electrical insulator. It is used to protect data communications on cable, and is very important for the manufacture of semi-conductors.
